The restoration of the Stoa of Attalos is a brilliant achievement, well worthy of the superb environment. It is also a fine and lasting tribute to the generosity of the Rockefeller Foundation, which paid for the restoration. It is also scholarly and authentic, in the true spirit of the ancient Greek ideals of Pericles and the classical perfection of Pheidias, the sculptor and the architects of the Parthenon, Ictinus and Callicrates.
